SAN DIEGO, CA. – The No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team went on the road and defeated Saint Katherine 4-3 in the Division I scoring format on Thursday afternoon.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 9-1 overall.
The Sagehens took two of the three doubles matches to earn one point in the Division I scoring format. The Sagehens earned a win at No. 2 doubles with Amelia Poor and Samantha Moore-Thomas taking a 6-1 win and then clinched the doubles point at No. 1 doubles with Patria Aziz and Alex Coleman getting a 6-3 win.
Pomona-Pitzer went on to split the singles matches with Saint Katherine 3-3. The Sagehens took losses at singles 2, 3, and 5 but ended up winning all of their singles matches in three-set contests. Lyven doubled up on her wins for the day with a singles win at No. 1 after she fell in set one 6-2, came back for wins of 6-3 to take the win.
Coleman also earned a three-set win at No. 4 singles in similar fashion after she dropped set one 6-4, came back with wins of 6-3 at sets two and three to earn the victory. The Sagehens got their final win of the day at No. 6 singles after Homan also dropped her first set by the score of 6-3 and came back for a 6-4 and a 6-2 win to end the day for the Sagehens.
