Sagehens Fall To No. 2 USC In Barbara Kalbus Tournament

IRVINE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo team fell to No. 2 Southern California 21-2 in their opening game of the Barbara Kalbus Tournament on Friday afternoon.

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 5-10 on the year.

The Sagehens had two goal scorers as Lucie Abele and Lulu Gaither notched goals against the Trojans.

The Sagehens failed to score a goal in the first half as USC outscored Pomona-Pitzer 6-0 in the first and 5-0 in the second to take an 11-0 lead into halftime. USC extended its lead to 15-0 before the Sagehens got their first goal of the day from Gaither to make it 15-1. 

Pomona-Pitzer got its second goal of the day in the fourth as Abele found the back of the net with 5:50 left to go in the fourth. The Trojans capped the game off with two more goals as the Sagehens fell in game one of their weekend tournament.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next play in the 9:15 a.m. slot on Saturday February 26th against an opponent yet to be determined.
