Redlands Hands Pomona-Pitzer First SCIAC Loss In 27-24 OT Defeat

Box Score

REDLANDS, CA. --  The Pomona-Pitzer Football suffered its first SCIAC loss of the season with a 27-24 overtime loss at Redlands on Saturday afternoon at Ted Runner Stadium.

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens drop to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens were led by Skylar Noble who went 23-36 for 252 yards through the air with three touchdowns. Noble also led the Sagehens on the ground with 107 yards on 36 carries. Will Radice led the receiving core with 80 yards off six catches and a score while Ryan Rosumny had 61 yards and Quinten Wimmer ended with 60 yards. Thomas McConnell led the defense with eight total tackles while Eamon Glascott and Graham Olson each ended up with a sack.

It was all Sagehens to start the game with Pomona-Pitzer mounting a 21-0 lead early in the game.  Pomona-Pitzer scored on each of its first three drives after Noble capped off an 11-play drive with a TD pass to Wimmer, a 17-play 79-yard drive ending with a Sander Wimmer touchdown from Noble, and a four-play 19-yard strike from Noble to Radice to make it 21—0 with six minutes to play until halftime.

After the Sagehens went up 21-0 at halftime, the offense fell apart during the second half with drives ending in a punt, interception, punt, turnover on downs, and punt. The Redlands offense started to get going after being handed good field position and only needed to go 34 yards for their first endzone trip of the day.

The Bulldogs only went 44 yards in their second touchdown drive to cut the lead down to one score at 21-14 with 7:20 left in the fourth.  The Sagehens tried to run the clock out but made the decision to go for it on fourth and one in an attempt to burn more clock but was stuffed at the line to hand the Bulldogs the ball at the Sagehens' 47-yard line.  Redlands went on to score in nine plays to tie the game at 21-21 and head into overtime.

Pomona-Pitzer got the ball first and had their overtime drive stall out inside the five-yard line and forced to kick a field goal.  It took Redlands just two plays on offense as their quarterback scrambled for 27 yards to hand the Sagehens their first loss in SCIAC play.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next host Whittier on Saturday, November 5th at 7:00 p.m
