CLAREMONT, Ca. – The women's tennis team competed well at the ITA Fall Regional Championship behind big performances from Angie Zhou, Marissa Markey, and Nina Ye. Zhou and Markey defeated CMS in the Women's Doubles Championship with 6-4 victories in both sets. Ye made an impressive run through the qualifying rounds, picking up a 6-1, 6-2 win in the seminfinal against Sena Selby from CMS to advance to the final. Zhou also earned a spot in the Women's Singles Championship but withdrew after her Doubles victory, giving Ye the title. The trio all earned All-American honors for their victories and will compete in the ITA Cup which is being held in Rome, GA on Oct. 14-17.

In the Women's Open Singles, Nina Ye and Angie Zhou won in straight sets the whole way through the qualifying rounds to advance to the final in a Sagehen vs. Sagehen match up. Most notably, Zhou earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory over CMS' Nikolina Batoshvili while Nina Ye earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory of CMS' Sena Selby, advancing the duo to the championship match. As mentioned, Zhou withdrew from the Singles final after her Doubles championship match, giving Nina Ye the win by default.
In the Women's Open Doubles, Angie Zhou and Marissa Markey led the way for the Sagehens, flying through the qualifying rounds with 8-1, 8-2, 8-1, and 8-5 victories to advance to the final. The pair then took down Sixth Street Rival CMS in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to claim the ITA Fall Regional Doubles Championship title and earn All-American honors. The victory also qualifies them for the ITA Cup in Rome, Ga. On Oct. 14-17.
Patricia Aziz and Marcus Janie also showed well for the Sagehens in doubles play, advancing to the quarterfinals with an 8-6 victory in the round of 32 and an 8-7(5) victory in the round of 16.
