ORANGE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo team remained perfect in conference this season with an 18-5 win over Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Chapman on Saturday afternoon at the Alfred Aquatics Center.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 10-9 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
The Sagehens were led by Anna Yu and Jocelyn Castro who each shared a game-high with four goals each in the win.
The Sagehens scored early and often against the Panthers as Yu opened up the match with back-to-back goals to take a 2-0 lead. The Panthers responded with a goal, their only of the period, but the Sagehens ended with three-straight goals from Natasha Rosenthal, Natalie Hill and Nohea Kahaulelio to take a 5-1 lead after the first.
The Panthers began and ended the second with goals but the Sagehens filled in the gap with four of their own from Yu, Rosenthal, Castro and Nohea Kahaulelio and headed into the halftime with a 9-3 lead.
Pomona-Pitzer really blew the match open in the third as they shutout the Panthers in the period and added five more goals to push the lead to 14-3.
The Sagehens didn't let up in the fourth as they netted four more goals from Castro, Kahea Kahaulelio and Rosenthal as they cruised to their fifth SCIAC win of the season.
