CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's water polo team defeated Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Cal Lutheran 8-1 on senior day on Saturday afternoon at Haldeman Pool.
The Sagehens were led by junior Christina Williamson and freshman Natalie Hill who each tallied two goals on the day.
The game began as a low scoring contest as only one goal was scored during the first quarter. The Sagehens scored the lone goal off of the hand of Hill as she found the back of the net for her first goal of the day to give the Sagehens a 1-0 lead.
Pomona-Pitzer added two more goals to its total in the second half as freshman Kyla Pickell and Williamson both scored in the second quarter. Junior Ahsha Earwood kept the Regals off of the scoreboard in the first half as the Sagehens went into the half with a 3-0 lead.
The Sagehens did their damage in the third quarter as they outscored Cal Lutheran 4-1. Freshman Nohea Kahaulelio, sophomore Morgan McCracken, Hill and Williamson each notched one goal in the third period as Pomona-Pitzer held a commanding 7-1 lead over Cal Lutheran.
Pomona-Pitzer slowed down the offense in the fourth but managed to cash in on one more goal from freshman Samantha Martinez and ended the season on a high note as they end the regular season with a 12-15 record and 7-1 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens will next play in the SCIAC Tournament hosted by Redlands on Friday, April 22nd with matches beginning at 12:00 p.m.
