Women's Water Polo: Pomona-Pitzer Beats Brown 5-3

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's water polo team defeated Brown University 5-3 on Monday afternoon at Haldeman Pool.

Pomona-Pitzer was led by sophomore Morgan McCracken who tallied a game-high two goals in the win.

The Sagehens started out on top as they scored two goals in the first quarter. McCracken and sophomore Erica Halaszynski both found the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead over the Bears.

Brown scored one goal in the second and Pomona-Pitzer added one more of their own as freshman Nohea Kahaulelio scored a goal to give the Sagehens a 3-2 lead heading into halftime.

The Bears came back in the third quarter and tied the game up at 3-3 after they scored a goal at the 6:46 mark but McCracken notched her second goal of the day as the Sagehens reclaimed the lead just over 30 seconds later.

Junior goalie Ahsha Earwood shut out the Bears in the fourth quarter and junior Christina Williamson closed out the game with a goal in the final seconds as the Sagehens won their second-straight game at home.

The Sagehens next travel to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Whittier on Wednesday, March 30th at 7:00 p.m.
