Box Score REDLANDS, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball team fell to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Redlands 66-58 on Wednesday night.
Pomona-Pitzer was led by senior Gibson Farone-Collins who tallied a team-high 22 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Freshman Chris Wright was also in double-figures with 12 points for the Sagehens.
Redlands was led by Al Bjekovic who scored a game-high 32 points and went a perfect 12-12 from the free-throw line.
The first half was a close back and forth battle with neither team holding a lead larger than four points. Redlands held a slim lead for the majority of the first half and went into the locker room with a 27-26 lead at halftime.
The Sagehens came out in the second half and played right with the Bulldogs to stay within striking distance of the lead.
Pomona-Pitzer took its first lead of the second half at 44-43 as Wright nailed a three-point shot with 11:09 left.
The Bulldogs quickly reclaimed the lead and took their largest lead of the game at 61-53 after a Bjekovic layup with 1:59 remaining.
The Sagehens were forced to foul and Redlands help off Pomona-Pitzer at the foul line to split the season series.
The Sagehens continue SCIAC play as they host Chapman on Saturday, February 6th at 5 p.m
