CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball fell to Cal Lutheran 99-71 Wednesday night at home on senior night.
Season Impact: The result drops the Sagehens to 9-14 on the season, including 5-10 in SCIAC play.
Charlie Hutchison led the team offensively with 14 points to go with four rebounds and four assists.
Matthew Diekmann followed with 12 points and three assists while
Charlie Treene had 11 points and six boards.
Cal Lutheran got out to a quick start, leading 31-14 midway through the first half. But Pomona-Pitzer hung around, with three-pointers from
Connor Fitzgerald and Treene bringing the team within 11. Treene later hit another trey to make it 45-33 Kingsmen. Hutchison completed a three-point play as the Sagehens trailed by 10, 51-41, at the half.
Diekmann and Hutchison traded baskets early in the second half before Cal Lutheran took control, leading by as many as 32 in the second half.
Abhi Namala scored late but the Sagehens fell 99-71.
Up Next: The Sagehens will face La Verne on the road this Saturday, Feb. 21, at 2:00 p.m. PT to close out the regular season.
