Men's Basketball Falls at La Verne to Close Out 2025-26 Season

LA VERNE, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball closed out the 2025-26 season with a loss 75-74 loss at La Verne. 
 
Season Impact: The result puts the Sagehens' final record to 9-15, including 5-11 in SCIAC play. 
 
Charlie Treene and Kyle Jasper led the team offensively in each of their final career games as Sagehens. Treene tallied 15 points and 15 rebounds while Jasper added 14 points and a pair of rebounds. Matthew Diekmann contributed 12 points and six boards while Sam Lind had 10 points. 
 
The Sagehens jumped out to a 12-point lead, 25-13, midway through the first half following a Samir O'Brien jumper and a Diekmann layup. La Verne clawed their way back to tie things up before a Bryson Bryker tip-in put the Sagehens up 41-37 at the half. 
 
Teams traded baskets to start the second half, with an O'Brien layup putting Pomona-Pitzer up two, 57-55. The Leopards, though, took a seven-point lead, 73-66, with 4:07 remaining before Treene hit a jumper. Jasper and Treene then traded baskets before another jumper from Jasper tied the game at 74 with 59 seconds to go. 
 
The Sagehens then forced a stop but couldn't convert on their following offensive possession. A late foul then sent the Leopards' Jackson Gray to the free throw line with four seconds. Gray converted one of two to give La Verne the 75-74 win.
