Sagehens Fall At Chapman

Box Score

Orange, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team fell in its second to last game of the 2014 season, dropping an 11-1 decision at Chapman on Sunday.

With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 15-23 on the year and 11-16 in SCIAC play, heading into the season finale at home on Tuesday against Redlands. Chapman improves to 28-11 and 21-7 in conference play.

Chapman broke open a close game with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 7-0 lead, capped off by a grand slam homer from Andrew Carbajal. Pomona-Pitzer got one run back in the seventh on an RBI single from senior catcher Travis Bowers (pictured), scoring junior second baseman Kenny Rabin

However, Chapman scored four times in the eighth inning to end the game early due to the SCIAC's 10-run rule. Tanner Nishioka was the lone Sagehen with more than one hit, finishing 2-for-4.

Pomona-Pitzer will honor its five seniors prior to the Redlands game on Tuesday (Bowers, Jackson Badger, Coleman Lukas, Robert Weller and Drew Helgren).
