BALTIMORE, Md. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team saw its season come to an end on Sunday afternoon, falling to Johns Hopkins 7-3 in the NCAA Regional Final at Babb Field.
Season Impact: The Sagehens conclude the 2025 campaign with a 33-14 overall record, a SCIAC Tournament championship, and an appearance in the NCAA Regional Final.
Peter Savas paced the Pomona-Pitzer offense, finishing 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Tanner DeGrazia, Greg Pierantoni, and Landon Hu each added hits for the Sagehens.
Dean Hoshide made the start on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while allowing two runs and striking out two in a no-decision. Talen Pilz was charged with the loss after tossing two innings in relief, while Lincoln Oelschlager and Wade Lawson also appeared out of the bullpen.
Johns Hopkins opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning with a pair of RBI singles to take an early 2-0 advantage.
Pomona-Pitzer answered in the third when Savas launched a solo home run to left field, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The Sagehens pulled even again in the fifth inning as Hu connected on a solo shot to tie the game at 2-2.
The Blue Jays responded immediately, reclaiming the lead with a solo home run in the sixth inning before breaking the game open with a four-run seventh inning to move ahead 7-2.
DeGrazia added a solo home run in the ninth inning for the Sagehens, but Pomona-Pitzer could not complete the comeback effort as Johns Hopkins secured the Regional Final victory.
