Claremont, Calif - Second-ranked Amherst swept both singles and doubles to take a 9-0 win over No. 14 Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at Pauley Courts.
The loss drops the Sagehens to 6-5 on the year. Pomona-Pitzer was missing its usual No. 2 (Sammy Chao) and No. 3 (Kara Wang) singles players due to injuries, although Wang did play at No. 1 doubles with teammate Jamie Solomon (Los Gatos, Calif.), where they fell 8-5 to Jordan Brewer and Laura Danzig.
The Sagehens were swept in two sets in five of the six singles matches, with only Jessica Hsu (Henderson, Nev. - pictured) able to split her first two sets (taking the first set 6-4 and falling in the second 6-1), before falling in the abbreviated third-set tiebreaker format 10-3 to Jennifer Newman.
Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action when it hosts Middlebury on Wednesday.
