CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's tennis team fell to CMS in the SCIAC Tournament Championship 5-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Biszantz Family Tennis. Center.
The Sagehens dropped the first doubles match of the evening day Samantha Moore-Thomson and Janie Marcus fell to the team of Eisenman and Brissett at the #3 spot 8-2. Lauren Rha and Nina Ye earned the win at #1 doubles over Batoshvili and Chulani 8-5, but the Sagehens came up just short in taking doubles as Marissa Markey and Angie Zhou fell to Selby and Wurster at the #2 position 8-6.
After trailing 2-1 heading into doubles, the Sagehens got back to 2-2 with a win from Amelia Poor over Selby of CMS 6-1, 6-3 at the #5 position, but CMS earned the next two singles wins after Rha fell to Brissett and #4 spot, 6-4, 6-1 and Ye dropped her singles match at the #3 spot against Yoon 7-6, 6-0.
Pomona-Pitzer got another point at the #1 spot as Zhou continued her dominant singles run with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Wurster, but the Athenas went on to clinch with a win at #6 singles with Janie Marcus falling to Batoshvili 6-2, 7-6.
Up Next: The Sagehens will look to receive an At-Large Bid into the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
