Five Sagehens registered one hit in the game with JC Ng, Caleb Millikan, Jimmy Legg, William Kinney and David Bedrosian all reached base with a hit while Bedrosian had a home run as well in the loss. Jake Hilton got the start in game one and ended up receiving the loss after six innings, three runs with six strikeouts. Ethan Collins came in to relieve Hilton with 2.1 innings of relief work while Eric Prough came in as well.

The Panthers got on the board first in the top of the third after getting their first two runners on with nobody out in the inning. Chapman cashed in on an RBI single and an RBI groundout to get the lead to 2-0 and added one more off of an error to take a 3-0 lead over the Sagehens.

Pomona-Pitzer got their first hit off Wyatt Thompson in the bottom of the sixth and loaded the bases with two walks in the inning, but Chapman got out of it without surrendering a run to keep the Sagehens at a 3-0 deficit.

Chapman added to its lead in the top of the seventh with a two-out RBI single to extend its lead to 4-0.

Thompson walked the bases loaded again in the bottom of the seventh and walked in a run for the Sagehens' first score of the game as the Panthers went to the bullpen with one out and bases loaded clinching to a 4-1 lead. The Panthers would get out of the inning with just the one run surrendered after an inning ending double play kept the score at 4-1.

The Sagehens got one back in the ninth with one swing of the bat from Bedrosian with a solo shot to center field but couldn't make up the other two runs as they fell to Chapman in game one of the doubleheader.

Pomona-Pitzer 10, Chapman 7

The Sagehens were led by Ng who went 3-4 with four RBI's and three runs scored. Millikan and Kinney each had two hits while Kim, Colton, and Bedrosian had one.

Eamonn Woods got the ball for game two of the doubleheader and went four innings, gave up two runs with five strikeouts in the no-decision. Jake Albro came in to relieve Woods with one innings while Landon Carter came in to pick up the win with 1.2 innings pitched while Ben Cohen set up Eric Prough for his second save of the year.

The Panthers jumped ahead early again in game two after an RBI single up the middle in the top of the third put Chapman on top 1-0.

Pomona-Pitzer responded in their next at-bats as Ng blasted a solo homerun to right field to even the score at 1-1.

Chapman reclaimed the lead in the top of the fourth with a two-out double down the line, but the Sagehens answered again in their next at-bats with an RBI single from Millikan to tie the game again at 2-2.

The Panthers went on to score in their third-straight inning with a two-run homer to take the lead back at 4-2, but the Sagehens came back again with one run in the bottom half of the inning as Ng doubled and stole third with an error to bring him home to cut the lead down to 4-3 heading into the sixth inning.

The Sagehens scored in the fourth-straight inning, but hung a big, crooked number on the board with six runs in the bottom of the sixth.  Bedrosian started the scoring out lining an RBI single to left field to tie the game at 4-4. The Sagehens went on to load the bases with no one out in the inning and Donny Crook came through with an RBI to put the Sagehens up 5-4. Ng came through with a big two-RBI single up the middle to extend the Sagehens lead to 7-4 and Kim cleaned up the bases with a two-run bomb to center to put the Sagehens up 9-4.

The Sagehen defense had a chance to put another 0 on the board but a dropped third strike with the bases loaded turned into two runs for Chapman and back-to-back walks plated another to get the Panthers back within striking distance at 9-7.

Pomona-Pitzer added an insurance run in the bottom of the eight as Ng brought home Kinney on a sacrifice fly to give Prough a three-run lead in the ninth.  Prough sent the Panthers down in the ninth as the Sagehens ended the series with a win.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next continue their Redlands game on Tuesday, 2nd at 4:00 p.m.
