Box Score ORANGE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team dropped their series opener against Chapman 5-2 on Friday afternoon at Hart Park.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 16-18 overall and 7-11 in SCIAC play.
Jack Colton went 3-4 in the loss with an RBI while William Kinney registered the only other multi-hit game going 2-4 with JC Ng, Nate Jakobs, Jimmy Legg, and Matthew Nishimura also earning a hit as well.
Harry Deliyannis got the ball for the road single and picked up the loss to move to 2-5 on the year with 6.1 innings pitched with four runs, three earned, and six strikeouts. Hannoh Seo and Eric Prough also came in for relief role appearances.
Chapman jumped ahead in the first inning with an RBI single to left while the Sagehen offense struggled to get production early in the ball game. The Panthers added two more to their toal in the bottom of the sixth after an RBI double and an error by the Sagehen defense pushed the lead to 3-0 heading into the seventh.
Pomona-Pitzer responded with some runs in the top of the seventh with RBI's from Colton and Jakobs but the Bullpen couldn't keep the game within reach as Chapman scored a run in the seventh and eighth inning to extend the lead to 5-2. The Sagehens got the top of the lineup in the ninth but couldn't manufacture a late comeback as they fell in their opening game to the Panthers.
