THOUSAND OAKS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team continued their winning streak with a 9-0 sweep over Cal Lutheran on Sunday afternoon at the Poulson Tennis Center.
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improve to 12-5 overall and stay perfect at 6-0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens started out with a clean sweep of the doubles matches against the Regals.
Pomona-Pitzer's #1 doubles of Angie Zhou and Marissa Markey secured an early victory with an 8-3 win against Carmen Bufkin and Mina Ahmadi. Nina Ye and Samantha Moore-Thomson followed up with an 8-0 win against Lauren Sebastian and Luisa Garcia, while Rachel Homan and Alex Coleman defeated Reya Maestas and Gerda Jucys 8-4.
The singles matches continued in a similar fashion, with the Sagehens taking all 6 singles matches as well. Zhou defeated Carmen Bufkin 6-2, 7-6 at the #1 position, while Amelia Poor defeated Luisa Garcia 6-0, 7-6 in #2 spot, respectively. Janie Marcus went on to defeat Lauren Sebastian at the #3 spot 6-0, 6-0 while Markey defeated Gerda Jucys at #4 6-1, 6-2. The Sagehens went on to take the final two singles matches as well as Rachel Homan defeated Mina Ahmadi 6-0, 6-0 and Rachel Roxarzade defeated Reya Maestas 6-3, 6-3.
