Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team finished their series against Redlands after a stoppage earlier in the year. The Sagehens came into the day leading the game 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning and came away with a 6-2 win on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 18-19 overall and 9-12 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by William Kinney who went a perfect 4-4 with two RBI in the win. JC Ng, Donovan Crook, Isaac Kim and David Bedrosian all had multi-hit games while Jackson Fleming, Jimmy Legg, Matthew Nishimura and Caleb Millikan had one each.
Harry Deliyannis got the start in the first half of the game and continued in the start of the fifth. He ended with a line of five innings, gave up two runs off three hits and four strikeouts. Hannoh Seo and Landon Carter came in for relief appearances as well in the win.
The Bulldogs took the lead first in their first at-bats with a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0. The Sagehens responded in the bottom of the second as Crook singled home two to give the Sagehens the lead at 2-1.
Redlands tied the game back up in the top of the fourth, but the Sagehens responded immediately with an RBI single from Ng to take a 3-2 lead before play was called.
After play resumed, the Sagehens struck first after Kinney singled up the middle to bring home a runner and then singled home another runner in the bottom of the seventh to put the Sagehens up 5-2. Ng tacked on another run with an RBI single to left as the Sagehens took a 6-2 lead into the eighth.
Pomona-Pitzer added five more runs in the bottom of the eighth after Millikan was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Legg brought home a runner on a sacrifice fly, Nishimura was hit by a pitch, Ng singled up the middle to extend the lead to 11-2. Kim went on to end the game with a 10-run rule with a fly ball to left field as the Sagehens took the win 12-2.
