STANFORD, CA. -- The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Water Polo team fell Fordham 18-11 to end the MPSF Tournament on Sunday afternoon at the Avery Aquatics Center.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 5-7 overall.
The Sagehens were led by Benjamin Sasaki who netted a hat-trick with three goals in the loss. Matija Jancic and Zachary Kaplan had multi-goal games with two each while Kyle Green, Sam Sasaki, Conrad Hugar, and Jacob Whiting had one.
The Rams got out to an early led with a 3-0 start before Ben Sasaki earned his first goal of the game to make it 3-1. Fordham eventually grew its lead to 8-1 midway through the second before goals from Green, Hugar and Jancic got the Sagehens back into the game at 8-4. The Rams added three more goal before halftime, but Kaplan brought the Sagehens one goal closer to trail 11-5 heading into the break.
Jancic and Ben Sasaki netted goals for the Sagehens in the third, but Pomona-Pitzer was outscored 4-2 to head into the fourth down 15-7.
With a lot of ground to make up, the Sagehens outscored Fordham 4-3 in the fourth with goal from Sam Sasaki, Ben Sasaki, Kaplan and Whiting, but the Rams' early lead was too much for the Sagehens to overcome.
