Box Score 2 CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team clinched a spot in the 2022 SCIAC Postseason Tournament with their split doulbeheader against CMS with a 16-5 win and a 10-0 loss on Saturday afternoon at Arce Field.
Season Impact: With the split, the Sagehens finish the regular season at 27-10 overall and 15-9 in SCIAC play.
Pomona-Pitzer 16, CMS 5
The Sagehens were led by Isaac Kim who went 2-3 with five RBI's and three runs scored. Caleb Millikan went 3-5 while Jack Damelio, Kevin Lo, and Ryan Nishi all registered multi-hit games in the win. Jake Hilton got the start and the win for the Sagehens after he went six innings with two runs surrendered and seven strikeouts while Eric Prough came in for one inning of relief work.
The Sagehens got out to a big start in game one of the doubleheader after dropping the opening game of the series to CMS at home. Jack Damelio got the scoring going with a double to right-center that brought home two to get the Sagehens out to an early 2-0 lead. Kim went on to break the game open later in the inning with a grandslam to extend the lead to 6-0 in the top of the second.
Pomona-Pitzer added two more in their next at-bats as Kade Morihara drove in Ryan Nishi off a sacrifice fly and Damelio stayed hot with a solo shot to left to push the lead to 8-0 in the third.
The Sagehens pushed their runs to eight straight after RBI's from Jimmy Legg and JC Ng in the fifth, but CMS finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead down to 10-2.
After already putting 10 runs on the board in the first, the Sagehens put up six runs combined in the sixth and seventh inning after RBI's from Ng, Kim, Nishi and Millikan to take a commanding 16-2 lead over CMS.
The Stags tried to stop the 7-inning mercy with three runs in the seventh but the Sagehens were too dominant in game one to come away with the 16-5 win.

The Sagehens were led by Lo who went 3-4 in the loss.
CMS took the early lead in this one after the Sagehens got into a little trouble with the bases loaded. A hit batter with the bases loaded plated the first run for CMS and after and RBI single and a wild pitch, the Stags took a 3-0 lead.
CMS added on in the third and fourth inning with a two-run homerun in the third and a two-RBI single in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead over the Sagehens. CMS ended the day with three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the series from the Sagehens with a 10-0 win.
