THOUSAND OAKS, CA. – The No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team ended the regular season unbeaten in SCIAC play after their 7-2 against SCIAC opponent Cal Lutheran on Saturday afternoon at the Poulson Tennis Center.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens end the regular season 18-1 and go undefeated in SCIAC play at 7-0.
The Sagehens started out with all three doubles wins to start out the match. Marissa Markey and Angie Zhou did not lose a game in their doubles contest at No. 2 8-0 while Alicia Carmona Cornejo and Patria Aziz followed up with an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles. The Sagehens ended doubles as Maria Lyven and Nina Ye grinded out a hard-fought 8-5 win to take a 3-0 lead into singles.
Pomona-Pitzer went on to win four of the six singles matches to close out their regular season. Janie Marcus opened singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles followed by Amelia Poor with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.
Alex Coleman earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles while the Sagehens ended the day with a big three-set win at No. 1 singles as Ye won set one 6-2, fell in set two 7-5 and finished with a 10-4 tiebreaker win to close out the season for the Sagehens.
