WHITTIER, CA. – The No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team moved their win streak to 11 games with their 9-0 win over SCIAC opponent Whittier College on Sunday morning at the Ettinger Tennis Courts.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 15-1 overall and 3-0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens started the day with all three doubles wins against the Poets. Each doubles team won by the score of 8-1 as Maria Lyven and Nina Ye took a win at No. 1 doubles followed by Georgia Ryan and Janie Marcus at No. 2 and Patria Aziz and Alicia Carmona Cornejo at No. 3.
Pomona-Pitzer went on to win all six singles starting with Carmona Cornejo who didn't lose a game in her singles match winning 6-0, 6-0. Lyven and Alex Coleman both won comfortably at No. 1 and No. 4 singles by the scores of 6-1, 6-0 while Marcus also doubled up on her wins for the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.
Amelia Poor kept the wins going for the Sagehens at No. 3 singles as she took a 6-2, 6-0 victory and ending the day for the Sagehens was Rachel Homan who finished off the Poets with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6.
