CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team improved their win streak to eight-straight with their 7-2 win over No. 18 Williams on Friday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 12-1 overall.
The Sagehens took two of the three doubles matches against the Ephs to start the match. Pomona-Pitzer first got a win at No. 3 doubles as Alex Coleman and Georgia Ryan cruised to an 8-2 win to get the Sagehens out to a one-point lead. The Sagehens followed up with a win at No. 2 as the team of Angie Zhou and Marissa Markey took an 8-5, but the Sagehens fell at No. 1 doubles 8-6.
Pomona-Pitzer took a 2-1 lead into singles and only dropped one singles match at No. 3. The Sagehens started out their singles wins at No. 4 with Janie Marcus earning a 6-0, 6-3 win and Georgia Ryan and Angie Zhou earning wins at No. 5 and No. 2 singles by the scores of 6-0, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-3, respectively.
The Sagehens went on to clinch the match with Amelia poor at No. 6 singles as she defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-3 and ending the day for the Sagehens was Nina Ye who made an appearance at No. 1 singles and walked away with a 6-3, 6-3 win.
Up Next: The Sagehens will next travel to UC Irvine on Saturday, April 2nd at 11:00 a.m. before returning home to host Redlands at 4:00 p.m.
