Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team opened up their 2022 season with a bang with a 7-1 win over non-conference opponent Lewis & Clark on Friday afternoon at Alumni Field.
The Sagehens were led by Isaac Kim and David Bedrosian who each went 2-3 in the win with two runs scored while Bedrosian also added an RBI to his line. Four other Sagehens got into the hit column as Jack Damelio, JC Ng, Jimmy Legg and Caleb Millikan all registered their first hits of the season with Millikan blasting a solo shot to right field.
Harry Deliyannis got the start for the Sagehens in game one of the season and pitched a gem going six innings with one hit surrendered and seven strikeouts for the win. Gabe Garcia came in relief of Deliyannis with 1.2 innings pitched while Eric Prough ended the game on the mound for Pomona-Pitzer.
Pomona-Pitzer got the scoring going in the bottom of the second as Ng singled to left field to bring home Bedrosian and Kim to give the Sagehens an early 2-0 lead. The Sagehens tacked on three more in their next at-bats with RBIs from Bedrosian and Damelio while Kevin Lo got another run home on a fielder's choice to extend the lead to 6-0.
It took Lewis & Clark until the sixth inning before they registered their first hit but went on to score their first run of the game in the top of the eighth on a double steal.
Pomona-Pitzer added one more run in the bottom of the eighth after Legg scored on a wild pitch and the Sagehens cruised to a dominant win in game one of 2022 over Lewis & Clark.
