Sagehens Walk Off In Series Finale Against Redlands

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team split in their double header to SCIAC opponent Redlands with a 14-8 loss and a 4-3 walk off win on Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field

Season Impact: With the split, the Sagehens move to 10-3 on the year and 1-2 in conference play.

Pomona-Pitzer 8, Redlands 14

The Sagehens were led by Isaac Kim and Harry Deliyannis who each went 2-4 in the loss.

The Sagehens got out to a lead in the bottom of the second after David Bedrosian brought home JC Ng on a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead.  Redlands responded in the top of the fourth and after a three-run homerun to right field to take a 3-2 lead and then Redlands added one more in the top of the fifth on a single to center and took a 4-1 lead.

The Sagehens loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth and after RBIs from Harry Deliyannis, Jack Damelio and Jimmy Legg, tied the game at 4-4 heading into the seventh.

After surrendering three runs the previous inning, Redlands came back on offense and responded with four runs to reclaim the lead at 8-4. Redlands added on in the top of the eighth with two more and then four in the ninth to take a 14-4 lead.

Corey Stofko gave the Sagehens life with an RBI single in the ninth and then Bedrosian blasted a three-run shot to center field to cut the lead down to 14-8, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback as Redlands closed out the Sagehens to take the first two games of the three-game series.

Pomona-Pitzer 4, Redlands 3

The Sagehens were led by Bedrosian who went 3-4 in the win while Kevin Lo drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. Joe Williams got the win in 4.1 innings of works after he came on in relief of Jake Hilton's 4.2 innings.

The Sagehens got ahead early after Kim drove home Ng on a groundout to give Pomona-Pitzer a 1-0 lead.  There was no scoring for either team until the fifth when Redlands got their first run of the game to tie it at 1-1, but the Sagehens answered in the bottom of the fifth with a walked in RBI and again in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single by Jimmy Legg to give the Sagehens a 3-1 lead. 

Redlands came back to tie it in the top of the seventh and the game was suspended because of darkness tied at 3-3 after seven innings of play.  The two teams restarted on Sunday morning and the Sagehens went on to win game three with a bases loaded single by Lo to walk off at home.
