Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. --The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team impoved their win streak to four games with a 9-1 win over non-conference opponent Whitworth on Friday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 7-1 overall.
The Sagehens were led by David Bedrosian who went 2-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs off of a three-run homer along with two walks as well in the win. Isaac Kim, Caleb Millikan and Kevin Lo also had multi-hit performances with Kim registering two RBIs and Lo with one. Harry Deliyannis got the ball for the Friday start and turned out another great performance on the mound as he went 7 innings and surrendered just one run off of three hits and five strikeouts for his third win of the year. Joe Williams came on in relief with two scoreless innings to close out the Pirates.
The pitchers were dueling early on in the ballgame with three complete scorless inning. The Sagehen offense got a spark from Bedrosian in the bottom of the fourth with a three-run shot to center for a 3-0 lead. The Sagehen offense exploded in the fifth for a six-run inning. Lo got the scoring going with an RBI single followed by a two-RBI single by Kim to extend the lead to 6-0. The Sagehens capped off the inning with a bases clearing triple by James Schmidt to increase the lead to 9-0.
The Pirates scored their only run of the day in the top of the sixth off of a double play that scored one to bring the lead down to 9-1, but the Sagehens closed the door on Whitworth with two solid innings of relief work from Williams to take game one of the three-game series.
