Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team opened up their three-game series against Linfield with an 11-6 win at Alumni Field on Friday afternoon.
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens move to 4-1 overall.
The Sagehens were led by JC Ng who went 3-4 in the win with two RBIs and two runs scored. Ryan Nishi and Jack Damelio both also had three-hit performances while Kevin Lo tallied two hits and a homerun with Caleb Millikan, Isaac Kim, Kade Morihara, and Jimmy Legg each getting one hit. Harry Deliyannis got the win for the Sagehens, his second in as many starts, as he went 6 innings and gave up six runs on six hits with seven strikeouts.
The Sagehens didn't waste any time to build a lead in this one as they plated four runs in the bottom of the first. Millikan got the scoring going with an RBI single up the middle followed by a sacrifice fly by Kim and RBI doubles from Nishi and Damelio to take a 4-0 lead.
Linfield responded in their next at-bats with three runs after a bases loaded walk and a two-RBI single to cut the lead down to 4-3. The Sagehens got one back with Ng RBI single but the Wildcats had two homeruns in the top of the third and came back to tie the game at 6-6.
Both teams went scoreless the next two innings but Lo gave the Sagehens the lead with a two-run homer to right field. The Sagehen added one more in the fifth as Kim nearly had a homerun as well but banked an RBI double off of the wall to bring in Millikan to take a 9-6 lead.
The Sagehens added one in the sixth and one in the seventh with RBIs from Legg and Nishi as Jake Albro came on in relief and finished off the final three innings while allowing just two hits and no runs to seal the win for the Sagehens in game one.
