NICHOLASVILLE, KY. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team finished the ITA Indoor National Championship in fourth place after their 5-3 loss to Carnegie Mellon in the third place game on Sunday morning at Top Seed Tennis Club. With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 4-2 overall.
The Sagehens started with one win during the doubles competition as the No. 2 team of Maria Lyven and Jay Kim earned an 8-4 win to earn the only point of doubles for the Sagehens. Janie Marcus and Georgia Ryan fell at No. 1 doubles in a close 8-6 loss and Rebecca Salaway and Yurie Heard fell at No. 3 doubles 8-4.
The Sagehens took two singles matches as well. Ryan earned a win in her singles match with a victory at No. 2 by the score of 7-6, 6-1. Lyven won her match at No. 1 6-4, 6-0 but that was all the wins for the Sagehens in singles play. Marcus dropped her match at No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-3, Jacinta Chen fell at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-2 and Kim lost at No. 6 singles 6-3, 6-3.
The Sagehens will next return home to host Colorado State on Sunday, March 8th at 10:00 a.m.
