Women's Tennis: Sagehens Take SCIAC Semifinals Over Caltech, 5-0

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team clinched a berth into the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship after their 5-0 win over Caltech in the SCIAC Semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.

Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improve to 15-4 overall.

The Sagehens went up 3-0 after doubles play against the Beavers as the No. 2 doubles team of Caroline Casper and Jay Kim made quick work of their opponents with an 8-0 victory. The Sagehens went on to get another win at No. 1 doubles as Arianna Chen and Maria Lyven went the distance with their opponents but came out on top with an 8-6 win. Caltech had to forfeit No. 3 doubles and also forfeited at No. 6 singles as the Sagehens went up 4-0.

Pomona-Pitzer capped off the semifinals with a win at No. 2 singles with Lyven winning the first game 7-6 (2) and finished with a 6-0 win to seal the match and send the Sagehens to the SCIAC Tournament Championship.  

Up Next: The Sagehens will face CMS in the Tournament Championship on Saturday, May 4th at 1:00 p.m.
