CLAREMONT, CA. – The Sixth Street Rivalry match on Wednesday night between the No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis Team and the No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas had plenty of fireworks, with some tight results, but it was the Athenas who prevailed 7-2.

Season Impact: The Sagehens are now 14-4 overall and 6-1 in the SCIAC.

The Sagehens dropped their first two doubles match. Grace Hruska and Lucy Jiang took an 8-3 loss in no. 1 doubles to Caroline Cox and Catherine Allen. Caroline Casper and Jay Kim fell 8-4 in no. 2 doubles to Sarah Bahsoun and Nicole Tan. However, Arianna Chen and Rebecca Salaway managed to secure one point after defeating Rebecca Berger and Madison Shea in a comeback victory 8-6.

Caroline Casper showed why she was the No. 5 singles player in the nation, defeating No. 26 Catherine Allen in two sets 7-6 (4) and 6-4 in no. 1 singles. Arianna Chen almost won against Nicole Tan in no. 2 singles, losing the first set 6-3 and coming back in the second 6-4 before dropping the final set 10-9. Lucy Jiang lost to Rebecca Berger in no. 3 with a pair of 6-1 sets while Jacinta Chen dropped her no. 4 singles match with Sydney Lee 7-5 and 6-1. In no. 5, Rebecca Salaway fell to Caroline Cox 6-1 and 6-0 and Melisha Dogra lost her no. 6 match with Sarah Bahsoun 6-2 and 6-1.
