Box Score THOUSAND OAKS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team fell to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Cal Lutheran 7-1 on Friday afternoon at Ullman Stadium.
Season impact: with the loss, the Sagehens fall to 13-4 overall and 4-3 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by junior Jeremy Jess who went 2-4 with an RBI in the loss. Junior Tyler Yoshihara suffered his first loss of the season as he fell to 4-1 overall.
The Kingsmen got on the board early in the bottom of the second inning after an RBI single gave them a 1-0 lead. The Sagehens responded in the top of the fifth after Jess drove in first-year Jack Damelio with a RBI double to tie the game at 1-1.
Cal Lutheran knocked Yoshihara out of the game in the fifth after they plated three runs to take a 4-1 lead. The Kingsmen added two more in the bottom of the sixth after two RBI singles and one more in the seventh to extend their lead to 7-1 after seven innings of play.
The Sagehens' bats stayed quiet late as they suffered an opening series loss to the Kingsmen on the road.
