Men's Soccer: Sagehens Fall In Double OT To Macalester, 1-0

Box Score

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team suffered a heart breaking loss as they fell to non-conference opponent Macalester 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Pomona-Pitzer Soccer Field.

Season impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 3-2 overall and remain 2-0 in SCIAC play.

The game-winning goal for Macalester came with just seconds remaining in the second overtime period as the Scots connected off of a low cross in that found the back of the net for the win.

Sophomore Bryan Diangson ended up with the loss but played an exceptional game in between the pipes as he tallied five saves and had multiple game-saving stops to keep the Sagehens in the game.

The Scots and Sagehens played a defensive battle as both teams limited the opposition to tough scoring chances.

Pomona-Pitzer had 11 shots and six corner kicks but were unlucky on offense as they failed to convert a goal and fell in a 1-0 loss.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next host conference rival CMS on Wednesday, September 12th at 4:00 p.m.
