CLAREMONT, Calif. – The No. 3 ranked Pomona-Pitzer women's tennis team ended their regular season with an 8-1 win over No.19 Redlands on Saturday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
The Sagehens started out the doubles competition with all three wins to jump out to a 3-0 lead over the Bulldogs.
The team of Emily Chen and Maryann Zhao started out with a win in the No. 1 doubles by the score of 8-3. Pomona-Pitzer ended doubles play as the team of Caroline Casper and Lea Lynn Yen won in the No. 2 doubles 8-3 and Grace Hruska and Marie Fleming took a win in the No. 3 doubles spot by the score of 8-4.
Pomona-Pitzer went on to take five of the six singles matches as well as Shivani Doraiswami took her match in the No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-1 and Mae Coyiuto defeated her opponent in the No. 3 singles by the score of 6-2, 7-5.
Yen also came back to win her singles match in the No. 4 spot by the score of 6-2, 6-0 and Arianna Chen finished off her opponent in the No. 5 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
The Sagehens ended the day as Fleming went on to win her singles match in the No. 6 spot by the score of 6-4, 6-3.
Pomona-Pitzer ends the season with a 17-2 record overall record and a 7-0 record in SCIAC play. The Sagehens will go on to the SCIAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed and are the host site for the tournament as well.
