CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's tennis team defeated Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Caltech 9-0 on Friday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex in a match that was previously suspended due to weather.
The Sagehens took a 3-0 lead as they won all three of the doubles competition with the team of Maryann Zhao and Emily Chen getting a win in the No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
Pomona-Pitzer ended doubles play as Lea Lynn Yen and Caroline Casper won in the No. 2 doubles, 8-0 and Arianna Chen and Mae Coyiuto took care of their opponents in the No. 3 doubles match 8-0 as well.
The Sagehens also swept all six of the singles matched against the Beavers with Shivani Doraiswami getting a win in the No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0.
Arianna Chen also won her match in the No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-3 and Emily Kuo won in the No. 3 singles spot by the score of 6-0, 6-2.
Grace Hruska found herself a win in the No. 4 singles match as she defeated her opponent by the score of 6-0, 6-0 and Marie Fleming followed that up with a win in the No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Pomona-Pitzer ended the day as Mallory Roth completed the sweep over the Beavers with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
The Sagehens will end their regular season as they host Redlands on Saturday, April 30th at 10:00 a.m.
