CLAREMONT, Calif. – The No. 3 ranked Pomona-Pitzer women's tennis team defeated Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Cal Lutheran 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at Pauley Tennis Complex.
The Sagehens started out with a 3-0 lead as they swept the doubles competition. The team of Maryann Zhao and Emily Chen won their match in the No. 1 match by the score of 8-4. Caroline Casper and Lea Lynn Yen won in the No. 2 match 8-1 and Mae Coyiuto and Marie Fleming defeated their opponents in the No. 3 match 8-3.
Pomona-Pitzer went on to win all six of the singles matches. Casper also won her singles match in the No. 1 spot 6-3, 7-5 and Zhao took down her opponent in the No. 2 match 6-3, 6-2.
Shivani Doraiswami won in the No. 3 singles by the score of 6-0, 6-1 and Coyiuto won her match 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 4 spot.
The Sagehens ended the day as Arianna Chen won her match in the No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-0 and Emily Kuo capped off the day with a win in the No. 6 spot 6-1, 6-1.
The Sagehens next take the court in the Ojai Tournament in Ventura, California on Thursday, April 21 at 9:00 a.m.
