Greencastle, In. -- The Pomona-Pitzer women's tennis team won their first game against Washington University-St. Louis 7-2 and advance to the Semi-Finals at the ITA National Indoor Championships in Greencastle, Indiana.
Pomona-Pitzer started off the day by sweeping the doubles competition and jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
Maryann Zhao and Emily Chen won their match in the No. 1 doubles by the score of 8-5. Lea Lynn Yen and Caroline Casper went on to take a victory in the No. 2 doubles with an 8-6 win and Joy Kim and Arianna Chen capped off the doubles with an 8-5 win in the No. 3 spot.
The Sagehens would go on to win four of the six singles matches with wins coming at the No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 spots.
Casper picked up another win in the No. 2 singles match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Shivani Doraiswami completed her match in the No. 4 spot with a 6-3, 6-0 win.
Mae Coyiuto took a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 5 singles match and Chen capped off the singles competition with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the No. 6 spot.
With their win against Washington University, the Sagehens move on to the Semi-Finals of the ITA National Indoors where they will face the No. 6 seed Sewanee at 2:00 p.m.
