Thousand Oaks, Calif. - For the second straight day, the Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team dug a hole in the first inning and was unable to recover as it dropped a 10-0 decision to Cal Lutheran in an elimination game of the 2015 SCIAC Postseason Tournament on Saturday morning. 

With the loss, Pomona-Pitzer falls to 28-13 on the season and likely concludes its season, as Redlands and Cal Lutheran would both be ahead of the Sagehens if the SCIAC were to get a second bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Cal Lutheran improves to 30-11 and advances to play another elimination game on Saturday.

In the first round of the SCIACs, the Sagehens gave up five runs to Redlands in the first inning and closed the lead to 5-4 before eventually the Bulldogs took a 10-4 win. Against Cal Lutheran, the Kingsmen (batting first as the visiting team, despite playing at home due to conference tournament rules), scored four times in the first inning to put Pomona-Pitzer in an early hole.

The Sagehens threatened throughout the game, putting runners on base in every inning until finally being retired in order in the eighth. However, Cal Lutheran added two more runs in the second and three in the fourth to further seize control. 

Senior Mark Okuma (pictured) was 3-for-4 for the Sagehens in his final collegiate contest, while sophomore center fielder Tanner Nishioka was 2-for-3. Ramsey Abuhshala was 3-for-3 with three RBI for the Kingsmen. 

The Sagehens will enter next season with some heavy graduation losses, as the entire infield which started on Saturday (third baseman E.J. Lopez, shortstop Sam Fox, second baseman Kenny Rabin and first baseman Jake Bruml) graduates, along with Okuma, infielder Ryan Madden and outfielder Timmy Novom.
