Palm Springs, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team rested its usual line-up to prepare for big home matches this week and fell 9-0 to Division I Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday in Palm Springs.
The loss drops Pomona-Pitzer to 3-2 on the young season, as it heads into a big week with home matches against nationally ranked opponents on Monday (Bowdoin) and Tuesday (Carnegie Mellon) at Pauley Courts.
Jessica Hsu (pictured) stepped into the No. 1 spot in singles and performed admirably, falling 6-4, 6-3 to Anna Rapaport. Hsu and doubles teammate Kira Woods also had a strong showing at No. 1 doubles, falling 8-5.
Woods also had the top performance in singles for the Sagehens, taking the first set at No. 3 singles against FDU's Julia Prantl 6-3 before eventually falling in a close third-set tiebreaker 10-8.
Constance Wu also had a good effort at No. 5 singles, falling 6-4 in the first set to Egzona Morina before dropping the second set 6-2.
