CLAREMONT — On Saturday, in the first game of a double header, the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens cruised to their sixth victory of the year in a 29-1 defeat of the Caltech Beavers.
The Sagehen offense was explosive. Freshman Timmy Novum (FR, Rancho Palos Verdes) led the team with 4 runs scored from the leadoff spot, going 4-for-5, with a triple, 2 doubles, and 2 RBIs. While all the Sagehens seemed to get in the run scoring action, with 15 different Sagehens getting hits, Teddy Bingham (SR, Claremont) led the way with a career high 9 RBI game. Bingham hit a three-run homerun in a 7-run 2nd inning. In the fourth inning Bingham hit his second homerun of the game, a grand slam to deep right-centerfield. Bingham exited the game in 4th finishing the game 4 for 4, with 3 runs scored and the aforementioned 9 RBIs.
Starting Pitcher Guy Stevens PO (SO, Lafayette) allowed no runs through 5 innings of work while striking out 7; Stevens received his first win of the year. Collin Majev (SO, Brooklandville, MD) held the Beavers to 2 hits during the final 2 innings, giving up one unearned run and striking out 3.
