At Pomona-Pitzer: Completed her second season as a member of the Pomona-Pitzer Women’s Swimming and Diving team, where she competes in a number of events, including the breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and individual medley…Holds the school record in three different individual events: the 200 breast (2:23.29), the 200 IM (2:06.98) and the 100 fly (57.03)...Also co-holds three school records in freestyle relays (200, 400, 800) and ranks second in school history in the 200 free (1:53.77), sixth in the 100 back (59.95) and seventh in the 100 free (53.39).
2014-15: SCIAC Champion (800 free relay)...All-SCIAC (100 fly, 200 IM, 200 breast, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay, 400 medley relay)...National qualifier (800 free relay)...SCIAC All-Academic team...CSCAA Scholar All-American...Helped the Sagehens defend their SCIAC title in the 800 free relay, swimming the first leg of a 7:37.57 finish that placed them 14th in the country heading into nationals...Finished second in the 200 IM with a 2:07.02, just .04 off her own school record...Earned a third-place finish in the 100 fly, setting a new school record with a 57.03...Also finished third in the 200 breast in 2:23.29, setting another school mark...Earned All-SCIAC honors with a top three finish in all seven events she swam in...Broke 1:00 in the 100 back against CMS (59.95), placing her sixth all-time at Pomona-Pitzer.
2013-14: Honorable mention All-American in the 400 free relay and the 800 free relay...CSCAA Scholar All-America first-team selection...All-SCIAC in the 200 IM...Helped the Sagehens set two freestyle relay records at the NCAA Division III Swimming Championships in Indianapolis, with a 3:30.85 in the 400 relay and a 7:37.25 in the 800 relay...Finished second at the SCIAC Championships in the 200 IM with a 2:06.98, setting a school record...Also finished sixth in the 100 fly with a 58.07, moving her into second place in Pomona-Pitzer history in that event.
High School: Attended Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, California, where she was a member of the swimming team…Earned team MVP honors…Two-time team captain…Three-time league champion in the 200 IM…Also won league titles in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 500-yard freestyle…Three-time NCS qualifier…National Merit Commended student and an AP Scholar Award recipient…Also swam for the Mission San Jose Aquatics, where she earned the scholastic All-American Award in the 100 fly…Qualified for NCSA Junior Nationals…Also a Speedo Grand Prix and sectional qualifier.
Personal: Attends Pomona College, where she majors in biology…Lists "Contemporary Asian American Issues" as the most interesting course she has taken while at Pomona....Born in Osaka, Japan…Has an older sister and a younger brother…Hobbies include drawing and singing…Favorite movies are Gibli (Miyazaki Hayao) and Disney movies…Spent the summer (2014) coaching swimming at home and then traveling to Jpaan to coach at a summer camp at the American School of Japan in Tokyo (coaching in English to Japanese elementary school students)...Part of the Asian American Mentor Program at Pomona...Chose Pomona because “I knew that Pomona is known for its outstanding academics, and the school looked great on paper (statistics) but when I actually visited on my recruit trip, the people were extremely friendly, they knew how to have fun while still getting their work done, I heard about how rigorous but rewarding the classes are, and I just loved the campus's vibe in general. What is there not to love about California?”
