CLAREMONT, Calif. — The Pomona-Pitzer baseball team earned a 13-1 victory at Occidental Friday afternoon.
Season Impact: The result puts the Sagehens at 26-12 on the season, including 15-7 in SCIAC play.
Greg Pierantoni led the Pomona-Pitzer offense with four RBI off a pair of homers.
Tanner DeGrazia also had four RBI on a pair of hits while
Cooper Berry and
Peter Savas contributed two RBI apiece.
Max Brunngraber earned the win from the mound after going 6.0 innings with four strikeouts and just one earned run.
Occidental got on the board first with a run in the second inning. DeGrazia answered with a two-run shot in the fourth to give the Sagehens a 2-1 lead.
Sammy Lee then blasted a solo shot in the fifth, before Berry belted a two-run homer later in the frame to go up 5-1.
Pierantoni blasted his first home run, a two-run bomb to left center, in the sixth. Savas added a sac fly RBI in the frame to put Pomona-Pitzer up 8-1. Pierantoni then hit another homer in the seventh, a two-run shot to center field. Savas notched another sac fly RBI and DeGrazia recorded a two-run double down the left field line. The Sagehens eventually came away with the 13-1 run-rule victory in seven innings.
