CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's tennis team delivered a dominant 7–0 sweep over Whittier on Senior Day Saturday morning at home.
Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 6-6 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.
The Sagehens set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. Leticia Bazua Vazquez and Lauren Rha earned a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Annique Varty and Ishya Bhavsar followed with a commanding 6-0 victory at No. 2. Meha Chaudhary and Leila Sahyoun completed the sweep with a 6-0 win at No. 3.
Pomona-Pitzer carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets to complete the shutout. Rha won at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win, while Bazua Vazquez added a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2. Sofia Kalyva dominated at No. 3 with a 6-0, 6-0 performance, and Varty matched that scoreline with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4. Tessa Ellingson secured a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5, and Sahyoun also won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
