CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's tennis fell 5-2 at CMS Sunday in its regular season finale.
Season Impact: The result puts the Sagehens at 9-7 on the season, including 6-1 in SCIAC play.
Pomona-Pitzer opened the match by winning the doubles point.
Leticia Bazua Vazquez and
Lauren Rha won their match, 6-4, before Ishya Bhaysar and
Annique Varty won 7-6 (7-5) on court No. 2.
The Athenas got even after
Sofia Kalyva fell on singles court No. 5, 6-2, 6-3, then took a 2-1 match lead after
Meha Chaudhary fell on court No. 4, 6-2, 6-7 (7-3). Bazua Vazguez then fell on court No. 2, 6-2, 6-4.
Tessa Ellingson dropped her match on court No. 6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).
Rha triumphed in her match on the top singles court, winning 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. But
Mireille Chedid-Daley fell 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) on court No. 3 as the Athenas took the overall match, 5-2.
Up Next: Pomona-Pitzer will enter the SCIAC Tournament this week as the No. 2 seed, first hosting No. 3 Redlands in the semifinals on Thursday, Apr. 30.
