LA VERNE, CA. – The Sagehens fell to La Verne with final score of a 1-2.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens record is now to 16–19 overall and 9–7 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens produced one run on four hits. Sadie Huryn led the way, recording a hit and scoring the team's only run. Natalie Murguia provided the lone RBI with a base hit, while Kylie Liu and Sophia Roberts each added a hit to round out the offense. In the circle, Audrey Reimers added a strikeout, but Pomona-Pitzer was unable to generate enough offense to support the effort.
The Sagehens struck first in the opening inning, as Murguia delivered an RBI single to bring home Huryn and give the Sagehens a 1–0 lead. La Verne quickly answered in the bottom half, using a double and a single to plate two runs and take a 2–1 advantage. From there, both teams settled in defensively, with limited scoring opportunities over the middle innings. The Sagehens threatened in the sixth after back-to-back singles from Huryn and Liu, but were unable to capitalize. Pomona-Pitzer put another runner on in the seventh, but La Verne held firm to close it out. Despite early momentum, the Sagehens were unable to push across another run, falling 2–1.
Up Next: The Sagehens will celebrate their seniors Kylie Liu, Natalie Murguia, Mia Lopez and Claire Sefkow as they take on La Verne again for a double-header at home. The games will be on Saturday April 25 at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM. The senior ceremony starts at 11:30 AM.'
