THOUSAND OAKS, CA – The Women's Lacrosse team secured a 17-2 win over the Regals on the road on Wednesday evening.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve their record to 12-1 overall and stands undefeated 8-0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by Carly Katzman and Piper Higgins, who each recorded a hat-trick. Madeleine Trapp and River Buechner each recorded multigoal performances with two apiece, while Maria Favret, Chloe Denhart, Grace Tighe, Shelby Stanton, Maihue Miranda Wiltberger, Nora Leblanc, and Caili Cross each contributed one goal.
The Sagehens took control early, scoring fifteen goals in the first half—eleven in the first quarter and four in the second. Higgins opened the scoring with 14:24 left in the first quarter, followed by Trapp at the 13:44 mark, and Higgins then added two more with 12:42 and 11:49 left on the clock. Katzman picked up one with a player advantage at the 10:41 mark, Leblanc found one during a player advantage with 10:09 left in the period, and Katzman scored one at the 8:15 mark. Cross soon earned one during a player advantage with 7:27 left on the clock, Trapp followed with one at the 6:38 mark, Katzman picked up a goal with 5:36 left in the period, and Miranda Wiltberger found one at 3:28 to put the Sagehens ahead 11-0.
Buechner extended the scoring energy into the quarter and secured a goal with 12:29 left on the clock, while Tighe found one at 8:29, Denhart picked up a goal with 6:02 left in the period, and Favret added one at 3:43 to bring Pomona-Pitzer into halftime with a 15-0 lead. The Regals broke past the Sagehen defenses and found a goal, but Buechner scored another goal with 7:44 left in the third period, and Stanton followed at 4:49 to bring the Sagehens ahead 17-1. The Sagehens attempted to widen the score gap, but were unable to convert, and Cal Lutheran found another goal, but the Pomona-Pitzer lead stood. The Sagehens wrapped up the match with a dominating 17-2 victory over the Regals.
