CLAREMONT, CA – The Sagehens team overwhelmed Chapman on Saturday, securing a dominant 19-3 victory over the Panthers on Senior Day. The Sagehens honored their eight seniors: Shelby Stanton, Gwynn Sulivan, Taylor Glanville, River Beuchner, Ruby Loesch, Ella Bradley, Izzy Sabatino and Caroline Donegan,
Season Impact: With the win, Pomona-Pitzer improves to 11–1 overall and remains undefeated at 7–0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by Caili Cross, who tallied four goals on the day. Catherine Faucette added a hat trick with three goals, while Madeleine Trapp, Glanville, and Buechner each recorded multi-goal performances with two apiece. Additional scoring came from Sullivan, Chloe Denhart, Madelyn Katz, Nora Leblanc, Sabatino, and Piper Higgins, each contributing one goal.
Pomona-Pitzer established control early, scoring 11 goals in the first half—five in the first quarter and six in the second. Denhart opened the scoring with 12:27 remaining in the first quarter, followed by Cross at the 9:40 mark on a player advantage, and Leblanc at 6:38. Glanville added a free-position goal late in the quarter (2:03), and Cross extended the lead at 1:25 to give the Sagehens a 5-0 advantage after one.
Faucette sparked a strong second quarter with three goals (11:23, 10:42, and 8:56), while Sullivan added one at 8:04. Glanville and Buechner each found the net late in the half, sending Pomona-Pitzer into halftime with an 11-1 lead.
The Sagehens continued their offensive output in the second half, scoring eight more goals across the third and fourth quarters. Trapp opened the third quarter at 13:59, followed by Cross (12:33), Higgins (9:32), and Trapp again (7:44). Cross added another at 6:06, and Katz scored at 2:07 to close the third with a 17-1 lead.
Chapman opened the fourth quarter with two goals, but Pomona-Pitzer responded with continued pressure. Sabatino scored at the 7:17 mark, and Buechner added a final goal at 0:57 while the Sagehens were down a player. Pomona-Pitzer closed out the match with a commanding 19-3 win.
