CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer baseball fell 17-4 in its series opener versus CMS Friday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Season Impact: The result puts the Sagehens at 19-9 on the season, including 9-4 in SCIAC play.
Cooper Berry,
Peter Savas and
Sammy Lee each tallied an RBI to lead the Sagehen offense.
Max Brunngraber (6-1) was tabbed with the loss from the mound while
Devin Saltzgaber and
Justin Zerger each stuck out a pair of batters in relief.
CMS got on the board in the opening frame with a pair of runs before a Berry RBI single drove
Kai Gonzaga home in the bottom of the inning. But the Stags scored the next five runs to go up 7-1 by the top of the third.
Savas hit a sac fly to center in the fourth and
Jack Gold scored on an error in the fifth. But the Stags scored seven runs in the sixth and seventh to go up 17-3. Lee posted an RBI sac fly in the bottom of the seventh but the Sagehens ultimately fell 17-4 in seven innings.
