CLAREMONT, CA – The Pomona-Pitzer women's water polo team earned a 26-2 victory over Whittier and a 20-2 win over Redlands Wednesday evening.
Season Impact: With the two wins, the Sagehens continue their season 17-15 overall and 11-0 in SCIAC play.

Pomona-Pitzer earned an early lead and fourteen goals in the first half, eight in the first and six in the second quarter. Magna started scoring for the match and earned an early goal in the first quarter with 7:40 left in the first period. Amberger followed with two back-to-back goals, one at the 6:39 mark and one during a power play at the 5:38 mark. Lang then netted a goal with 5:00 left on the clock, and Sullivan Wu picked up one with 3:15 left in the period. Whittier broke past the Sagehen defenses, but Kerber found secured a goal at the 1:26 mark to put Pomona-Pitzer ahead 7-1. Nicole then scored one during a power play with 0:33 left on the clock. The Sagehens finished the first period ahead of Whittier 8-1.
Lang started the scoring in the second quarter and netted a goal during a player advantage with 7:27 left in the period. Magna then netted one at the 6:39 mark, and Zeigler earned a penalty goal at the 5:04 mark. Mei Espinosa also broke past the Poets and dented the twine with 2:10 left on the clock. Archer followed and picked up a goal at the 1:50 mark and Gurney scored a last-second goal with a player advantage with 0:02 left in the half. Pomona-Pitzer entered halftime with a striking 14-1 lead.
The Sagehens kept up the energy through the second half and secured twelve mor goals in the third and fourth quarters. Hugar started the scoring in the third quarter and found a goal with 6:53 left in the period. Zeigler then scored a goal during a power play at the 6:13 mark, and Young earned one at the 4:38 mark. Magna found a goal with 2:48 left on the clock to put Pomona-Pitzer ahead 18-1. Whittier found another goal, but Archer soon replied and netted a goal with 1:36 left in the period. The Sagehens entered the final quarter with a widening lead of 19-2.
Magna started the scoring in the final quarter and earned a goal with a player advantage with 7:15 left in the period. Mei Espinosa followed and scored a goal during a power play at the 6:12 mark, and Lewis picked up one at the 5:14 mark. Kerber then found two back-to-back goals, one with 2:31 left in the period and one during a power play with 1:57 left on the clock. Berger swiftly netted a goal at the 1:41 mark, and Ascorra earned a penalty goal at the 1:09 mark. Pomona-Pitzer pressured Whittier throughout the game and overwhelmed the Poets to earn a 26-2 victory.

Pomona-Pitzer played well and secured sixteen goals in the first half, scoring eleven in the first and five in the second quarter. Amberger started the scoring in the match and scored two back-to-back goals, a penalty goal with 7:34 left in the period and a goal with 6:56 left on the clock. Magna followed and netted a goal at the 5:42 mark, and Amberger picked up another at the 5:14 mark. Szymczak then earned one with 4:43 left on the clock, and Young secured a goal with 4:03 left in the period. Mei Espinosa scored a goal at the 3:19 mark, and McGowan netted a goal at the 2:49 mark. Szymczak then found another goal with 1:28 left on the clock to bring the Sagehens ahead 9-0. Gurney and Kerber earned last-minute goals with 0:41 and 0:14 left in the quarter, respectively. Pomona-Pitzer built a formidable 11-0 lead over
Redlands.
Hugar started the scoring in the second quarter and earned an early goal with 7:43 left in the period. Sullivan Wu then scored two goals, one at the 4:57 mark and a goal with a player advantage at the 3:37 mark. Mei Espinosa found a goal with 2:51 left on the clock, and Szymczak secured a last-minute goal with 0:30 left in the period. The Sagehens entered halftime ahead of the Bulldogs 16-0.
Pomona-Pitzer kept pressuring
Redlands through the second half and secured four more goals in the third and fourth quarters. Gurney started the scoring in the second half and secured a goal during a player advantage with 3:41 left in the third period. Lewis followed and found a last-minute goal at the 0:44 mark. The Sagehens entered the final quarter with a notable 18-0 lead.
Kerber started
the scoring in the fourth quarter and found an early goal during a player advantage with 6:47 left in the period. Redlands attempted to catch up with a goal, but Gurney replied and netted a goal with 3:51 left on the clock. The Bulldogs tried to catch up with one more goal, but the Pomona-Pitzer lead stood, and the Sagehens ended the match with
an 20-2 win over the Bulldogs.
