CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's tennis team came up short against MIT losing 2-5 on Friday afternoon at home.
Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 5-6 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
MIT took control early, sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point.
In singles play, the Sagehens picked up two points but were unable to overcome the early deficit. Leticia Bazua Vazquez came out with a strong 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, and Annique Varty added another point with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 6. MIT secured wins at No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles. Despite the efforts from Bazua Vazquez and Varty, the Sagehens dropped the match 2-5.
