CLAREMONT, CA – The Pomona-Pitzer women's water polo team earned a 21-5 win against Chapman Wednesday evening.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens continue their season 14-15 overall and 8-0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by
Natalie Sullivan Wu, who scored four in the win.
Ayva Magna and
Brienz Lang each recorded a hatt rick while
Mia Amberger also picked up two goals. Also contributing to the win,

Celia Young each posted one goal.
Pomona-Pitzer started the match with a strong performance and earned 10 goals in the first half, five in each of the first and second quarters. Amberger started the scoring for the match and earned an early goal in the first quarter during a powerplay with 6:38 left on the clock. Lang soon followed with two back-to-back goals with 5:21 and 4:48 left in the period. Amberger found another one with 3:02 left on the clock, and Young picked up a last-minute goal with 0:02 left in the quarter. The Sagehens did not allow Chapman to score and ended the first period ahead 5-0.
Hugar started the scoring in the second quarter and beat the goalie to net a goal with 6:52 left on the clock. While the Panthers did manage to break past the Pomona-Pitzer defenses and score three goals, Magna replied and secured a goal with 3:28 left in the period to keep the Sagehens ahead 7-3. Sullivan Wu earned a goal during a powerplay with 2:59 left on the clock, and Szymczak followed and scored one with 2:03 left in the half. Sullivan Wu then netted a last-minute goal with 0:59 left on the clock. Pomona-Pitzer entered halftime ahead of Chapman 10-3.
The Sagehens continued playing well through the second half and collected eleven more goals through the third and fourth quarters. Sullivan Wu started the scoring in the second half and earned an early goal with 5:49 left in the period. Lang scored a goal during a powerplay at the 3:48 mark, and Magna picked one at the 2:43 mark. Lewis also secured a goal with 1:02 left on the clock. Pomona-Pitzer
advanced their lead to 14-3 as they entered the final quarter.
Chapman struck first in the fourth quarter, but Sullivan Wu responded and earned an early goal with 5:48 left in the period. Magna followed and beat the opposing goalkeeper to score one with 5:03 left on the clock to put the Sagehens ahead 16-4. The Panthers managed to score another goal. However, Zeigler picked up a penalty goal at the 3:23 mark, and Rotsart netted one at the 2:44 mark. Gurney also secured a one with 2:12 left in the period, and Kerber earned a penalty goal with 1:08 left on the clock. Berger continued the Pomona-Pitzer efforts and scored a last-minute goal with 0:35 left in the game. Thanks to a strong effort on all fronts,
the Sagehens overwhelmed Chapman and secured a 21-5 victory over the Panthers.
